Years of history and education

The School of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology Eha-Alumona, Nsukka received initial approval on August 10, 2010 from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), and inspection for formal accreditation of the school was performed by MLSCN on March 17, 2011. The first cohort of students matriculated on June 3, 2011.

OBJECTIVES

School of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology Eha-Alumona, Nsukka, runs a three-year Medical Laboratory course to train students who enroll in the school. At the conclusion of their studies, they take a MLSCN licensure examination. Upon graduation they are equipped with the knowledge, skill sets, disposition, competency, and professionalism as certified by the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria.

They become medical laboratory technicians eligible to work in health care facilities under the supervision of a qualified medical laboratory scientist both within Nigeria and abroad. The program is committed to meeting the employment needs of medical laboratory technicians in health care services in Nigeria and ECOWAS member States. As a missionary school of the Daughters of Divine Love, a salient aspect of our program is grounding our students in a moral framework for healthcare, combining bioethics with Catholic teaching.

Students who successfully complete the program can enter the workforce directly or matriculate at a university to begin graduate coursework. For both tracks, they should be able to demonstrate competence in a clinical laboratory setting and perform routine procedures with accuracy and precision. They should be able to recognize and adhere to safety policies while upholding ethical standards alongside co-workers, patients, and clinical personnel.

The School of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology, Daughter of Divine Love Eha- Alumona geared towards a balance and sound education by promoting human development of the spirit as well as the mind and provide high standard of instruction and conductive learning environment that aids accuracy, honesty and precision in the field of Medical Laboratory science and also initial employment and further educational advancement in the field of Medical Laboratory science

COURSE DURATION: The school admits qualified students without discrimination based on race, sex, color, religion, or ethnic origin. The 3-year program is for holders of an ‘O’-level SSCE/NECO/NABTEB certificate with the required subjects (English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry) in no more than two examinations; eligible candidates are senior secondary school graduates with credits in these subjects. Students must be willing to abide by the rules guiding the school. Applications for new students are accepted from March to September.
